CICS Northtown Students Complete Piedmont Internship

or the past six summers, CICS Northtown Academy has partnered with Piedmont Realty Trust and offered a two week internship for students. This summer five young women were accepted into the program and had the experience of a lifetime. For two weeks the students toured various buildings in Chicago, met with different real estate brokers, architects, operating engineers, elevator mechanics, general contractors and property managers

CICS Joins Illinois Network of Charter Schools at the CPS Press Conference

July 30, 2015

On Wednesday July 22, CICS joined the Illinois Network of Charter Schools at the Chicago Public Schools Board meeting to advocate for equal funding for all schools. Nearly 100 charter school principals, teachers, parents, alumni and supporters gathered at the press conference. In front of many cameras, reporters and TV’s the crowd was filled with chants of, “great schools can’t wait,” “charter school students matter” and “we deserve equal funding.”

On May 6th C&W had an outing with students from both the CICS Ralph Ellison and CICS Northtown Academy where they took an architectural boat tour of Chicago, followed by lunch. During the tour they learned about more than 50 buildings in Chicago.

CICS Scholar Stars in "The Curse of the Tempest Jewel"

Samuel P., a freshman at CICS Northtown Academy, has been acting for over seven years. As a part of Special Gifts Theater and GiGi’s Playhouse, Sam has appeared in many productions with his fellow cast members. At 16, Sam is now in a troupe called A.B.L.E made up of Chicago-area teens with Down Syndrome. A.B.L.E.’s latest project is a film: “The Curse of the Tempest Jewel”.
